I am currently L6 AWS Sales Ops with TT rating anticipated TC 240. Have been in this role for 2 years. Just received an offer from GCP TC 320. I like my team here at AWS and have no complaints about WLB, just a bit of annoying politics on occasion. Is it worth moving company for the increased TC but unknown WLB? What is the best way to resign without burning bridges so that I can potentially boomerang?
is it OK to take a new opportunity for more money? Yes. best way to resign without burning bridges? Give notice, thank everyone you appreciate, keep in contact, state you hope to work together again someday.
In Amazon we gighly appreciate two-door decisions:) and resigning Amazon to try something new is two door.
*takes notes* So you're saying DONT tell everyone to eat a bag of dicks... damn who would have thought
City?
Seattle!
Bro leave Amazon how are you even considering staying? That is the most toxic place ever!
I'm doing pretty well here and I feel comfortable I guess. Also I heard GCP is even more disorganized so not sure if will be more stress
If you know for sure that GCP is disorganized then switch only if you thrive in such an environment. Unstructured and disorganized orgs have their own benefits and gaps for growth but one needs to have those skills too.
I say move and take that risk. For AWS give a two week notice and build out a great transition plan with all the documents in Workdoc and Quip links. Maybe write a 2 pager to summarize current or roadmap state. This will pave the way to make it easier for transition.
Thanks for the advice bro this is helpful
How is the job market? I’m AWS sales Ops L6 as well but can’t see relevant jobs in the market
Start a poll
most of those lost in aws politics are at Google
Is that good or bad lol 🤔
basically same politics but different naming convention
Can GCP last in the long term?
Yes. Massive market with super high entry costs. Plenty of market share for AWS to lead and Google Cloud to still also be huge
Google is hiring?
For select roles yes but will be extra help if you have referral or know someone on a team with an opening
