L7 at Amazon vs Netflix Director

How does L7 at Amazon compare with Director at Netflix? Is director a very wide band at Netflix? Are Director roles at Netflix mostly IC? Is comp / TC at Netflix likely to be higher / same vs Amazon? Evaluating a non tech role in content at Netflix

Anything Netflix has Amazon has. Go with Amazon. Better contribution to society.

Most Director roles oversee a significant team, with several managers and dozens or hundreds of total staff. It’s a very significant title at Netflix that requires a track record of leadership and expertise in an important area.

Thanks. Is is true even for non tech / business roles?

Netflix Johnny5 Mar 18, 2018

Yes, business roles are just as valuable.

What is the TC difference?

Netflix Johnny5 Mar 18, 2018

The difference is not determined by tech or business focus. I know some directors on the creative side (content and Production) that make between $750k and $1mm.

Netflix bands are wide. For equivalence, Netflix VP is like high L8 low L9 at Google. Director at Netflix is L7ish at Google or Amazon. Sr Director is L7/L8 at Google in terms of comp.

What is a L7 pay range at Google?

Google xxdr Mar 23, 2018

600k+

Netflix Johnny5 Mar 18, 2018

@OP what is L7 pay at Amazon? The pay range for Director in the content org is very broad. You would be looking at $500k - $1mm+ depending on your experience and how coveted it is among our competitors.

Amazon FAANGStar OP Mar 18, 2018

I’m at $350K TC. You serious Netflix pays $500k + for content role? It’s a business role (content acquisition) non tech

Netflix Johnny5 Mar 19, 2018

If you were to be the head of a department, I would expect you would see a large bump over 350k! If you were an IC director, still a big bump, but maybe somewhere in the 400’s. I’m a manager and at $450k. Non-tech.
