Is it possible to carry yourself through a coding round with just being really good with communication or do you still need a big brain optimal solution?

You need both
Having good communication will definitely help. You have to be decent at coding though, but don't always need an optimal solution.

Thanks for the feedback im about to start interviewing for the first time (LC style interviews) and i’m just trying to get the most accurate description on what to expect I have a fear of getting a question that i don’t know how to solve and drawing a blank
