Interested on thoughts on this space. Seems to be REALLY picking up, especially with some of the better cyber players such as FireEye, Palo, Forescout, Leidos etc. Recently connected with a few of the startups in this space and they seem to be gaining some serious traction (refined product, new customers etc) Anyone been looking into this space? Industrial or OT/ICS cyber security)
No. Work experience would be best in this space. My advice is if you aren't working for a company who works on the OT side of the house then learn network security well, specifically vulnerability analysis, firewall segmentation etc etc and learn the OT/ICS/SCADA stuff on your own time.
This has also been piquing my interest lately.
You and me both. Seeing a lot of spend on OT cyber after much back and forth for years. Some recent events have seemed to open some people's eyes to what a breach could mean. Not only in possible lives lost but $$$
How do you mean? Engineers within OT lacking the needed traditional "IT networking" knowledge?
I work in the security space (ArcSight) and have experience developing a SIEM product. Very interested, however I'm a software engineer not security engineer.
Nice! So are you a developer? End user? I know a few of these companies are desperate for finding people who have experience analyzing traffic.
I'm a developer, I only write backend code but have been interested in learning more security skills. By analyzing traffic do you mean knowing how to use packet capturing tools like Tcpdump or Wireshark?
Symantec has really been ramping up its sales & engineering, worth checking out
You guys at Symantec seeing an increased focus on ICS Security? I know there had been focus in the past but seems like it dies off.
Yeah Symantec’s focus has been around the IoT side of industrial security, or using our recent mobile security acquisition for kiosk mode iOS/Android devices
Nice thread
I’m interested
Nice. You involved in security now?
