Facebook Phone Interview

Solved 2 Leetcode questions in around 40 minutes- 1 easy 1 medium A minor mistake in the second one, just in code, but explained everything well. What do you think are the chances of getting onsite? I heard Facebook compares a few candidates for every position before moving ahead with anyone, is this true? Update: Moved to onsite, recruiter email went to my old school email id on file earlier, thankfully I followed up with him.

Are you jumping from HW to SW? If thats the case companies are less stringent.

Everyone compares a few candidates for every position. Chances are 50/50. Interviewing is so subjective you never really know

Yea, you could breath the wrong way and you’ll get dinged for something. Good luck, hope you move on to the next phase tho.

Lol. Then tell is if it is a pass or fail?

Intel Int75 OP May 6, 2021

When will I get the feedback then? Its been 3 days :P

Facebook YxTm01 May 6, 2021

Sounds like chances are good. They don't try to be overly picky during the screen, but the interviews will be really picky.

It’s a 50/50 at this point because the first one was easy question. Had the first one been medium you would be a sure shot yes for on-site. I had phone screen couple of weeks back where I did solve the first one fully and optimally. Second one I explained the optimal solution; didn’t have enough time to type complete solution for the second one as interviewer wanted to give 5 minutes for me to ask questions. Also depends on level; if your interviewing for E4 or less the chances are fair. I am interviewing for a senior level.

Same thing happened with me. Didn't have time to code second one. But i gave optional solution. Both were medium questions. Did you clear the phone screen or did they expect you to code both?

Salesforce saulgudman May 6, 2021

I cleared the phone screen. The first question I solved with a nonstandard answer that isn’t available on leetcode or anywhere on internet. It was a kind of math question; I solved it in a math way. Probably that helped because the recruiter kept saying the interviewer was impressed by the way first problem was solved
