Given the recent layoff’s and current market condition is it good time to join PayPal as Data Analyst (TC 23) ?
I believe it is. Fintech will continue to be a growth industry, as commerce and financial services become increasingly digital. Data is at the center of this growth journey and data analytics career paths in PayPal can be rewarding. Layoffs aren’t specific to PayPal - it’s happening across, driven largely by macro economic factors. I’d much rather stay here than high risk fintechs like Coinbase, Affirm, or Robinhood.
This good time like share price dip
Not a good time to join imo. Lots of good performers have left and the culture has been drained. Lots of consultants, analysts and MBA babies have joined in senior positions with no idea what the company needs to grow and stay at the forefront of FinTech. You may get plenty of work if you join but whether your work is meaningful remains to be seen. It will be dependent on the organisation you work in and the aptitude of your leaders. Lots of folks are working on things that either get canned or ignored. Some teams can be great and very rewarding. But I think that's becoming more of a rarity nowadays sadly. Do your homework on the team and leaders of the organisation. Id also reach out to folks on LinkedIn and ask what its like to work in the org/role.
It is never good time to join PayPal. There is way too much politics in the company for mental wellbeing.
Quite the opposite for me and I love it here compared to my past companies
I agree a lot of politics. People who “love it” are new. The new people haven’t experienced layoffs or the realities of the job yet.
