Why the hate? 'Panopto'...
TL;DR: I'm one of the assholes who made some money on crypto and bought into the story years ago. I now clearly see the negative externalities. I challenge everyone to read my answers below with an open mind. I was into it back in the day. Mined eth and bought some btc back when BTC was < 1k. I made money on it, but I'm not proud of that any more. I thought it was a really cool idea. And frankly, the technical side IS kind of cool. But it doesn't amount to much overall, and there are a lot of negative externalities. My hate for scams is real. I also hate North Korea, Putin, the Watson aholes behind q Anon... All of whom are happily profiting off of the fact that people are throwing their real money into a terribly inefficient money laundering system. Don't get me wrong -- I was into it on the early days before it was clear that the brain trust had run out of ideas to improve the core concept, and a bunch of scammy weasels replaced them. I made a good chunk of money because I bought Bitcoin sub 1k. But am I proud of it? Nope. I see it for what it really is now. Hopefully you will too some day. P.S. Attaching an answer to a question above here too, as it's relevant I wouldn't say the average btc investor is immoral. Greedy? Of course. But there are people who have mastered the art of gaming the system in a million ways, and odds are that you're not one of them. As just one example, try looking up "selfish mining". Miners play a game of chicken on the block chain which makes it less secure but can help them gain an advantage over the competing computers by withholding information into very close to block creation. Add another -- since blockchains are public and slow, there are lots of bots waiting for trades on networks like ethereum which allow tipping for faster transactions. Then they can calculate the impact that purchase or sale would have on the price, and they can buy/sell ahead of it by incrementally upping the tip. Does that really sound like the future of money and everything? No. It's a shit tech that, at this point, solely exists to separate patsies from their money.
At this point i’ll take anything. Laid off, 6 months. I can’t dm you but If you dm me I can definitely send over my resume and linkedin.
