With ageism in tech, how are you approaching job search. I am doing a mix of LI+networking but so far not been successful. Also, targeting senior leadership positions.
It takes time for sure. Sometimes luck favours and one gets a position within a month as it happened with one of my friends last year but at that time mass layoffs were not widespread so I presume opportunities were bit more. Rest all those I know who are 15+ exp and looking for a new role, the timeline ranges from 2 to 4 months
Also these are all leadership roles and pay negotiation is tougher so even if you get a role, it takes time to convince yourself if its prudent to accept it.
Keep doing what you are doing, linkedin + networking, things will turn around. All the best
What kind of things are you doing on LinkedIn specifically? Reaching out to HM or anyone who could hire? I don't have a good LinkedIn strategy so I'm curious
I gave up trying to target higher-level positions. I've just never had the opportunity to work under good product management leadership and don't think my skills/experience will land me those opportunities.
Might be harder since your compensation might be higher. Have you applied to roles lower than your last job?
