#layoff Title says it all. How many of you did Amazon pull a fast one on, by laying you off after giving you a positive review and/or a raise? Saw exceeds bar with > 7 years tenure take the long walk today. Saw engineer who got a 60k cash bonus a few months ago escorted to the elevators. A meets bar SDM with no raise sitting safe. How about you? Employer: Amazon (not Cisco) TC: 282k YOE: >20
I got an uplevel promotion in Q1 that was announced at the beginning of the month and a HV3/TT rating in my performance review... then laid off today lol
That is brutal. I hope you find a job soon. Clearly seems like some infamous Amazon politics.
Was the whole team laid off
Historically Amazon has done that during my tenure. Pip after promotion kinda. It’s called “pushing under the bus” . Directors do that .
I thought OP was interested in know how many people got exceeds expectation, got a raise and then got laid off today, but none of the options discuss lay off.
Exactly. The poll didn’t match the paragraph. Probably why he got laid off at Amazon
There is option. Check properly. “Yes I exceeded bar and got a raise”
I got a needs improvement and no raise, go figure.. still here
Same boat and pcs Convo is yet to happen. Not expecting a raise
Both of you get the hell out of there. You guys have a target in your back and will be pipped anytime
When I was there some couple years ago an insufferable SDE3 with 12 yrs of Amazon tenure finally got promoted to Prince but he got the boot after 9 months. Not even a year passed. The skip L7 told me it was a “political” move.
What was political? The promotion or termination?
Yes
Hey, "Others", what happened to you?
Maybe don't work at amazon
Needed a 🍿 choice
