Absurdities of the Bay Area 😒
Hello everyone, I moved to US last year in June to support my wife's career move. It took me a while to find a job, almost close to 2-3 months - getting SSN, settling down in US etc etc, in Oct'22 with BNY Mellon after rejecting Amazon because of personal reasons - my daughter got affected with RSV, I was overcoming depression with all the changes i'd in my life for the past 3 years - got married, bought a new house, lost a couple of relatives due to COVID, recovered from health issues. After joining BNY Mellon I realised that's not the best place to work - high level of micromanagement, bureaucracy and headstrong folks and decided to leave the organisation. But before moving out, I was told I had lost my job because of resource reduction. For the last one week I was trying to digest and accept the reality that I need to find a job fast to take care of myself and family expenses - though my wife is still working we've financial liabilities here and back in home country. I'm reaching out to everyone for a. referral across different organisations in their analytics verticals - I'd post separate requests for all the companies that I've encountered b. eligibility and process to know more about filing unemployment benefits from the state c. I was being offered 12 weeks of severance pay - HR mentioned it'd be paid biweekly. But ain't sure if that's the industry practice. If it's not can I file an appeal through attorney for a lumpsum? d. Would be good if I could get referrals for stripe, Comcast, walmart, shell, Kantar, Nielsen
Why buy a house ? I don't get it - if you are an immigrant, what are you achieving by buying a house with money you don't have.
We bought the house in our home country before moving to USA - we bought it 3 years before moving here
