Before my time at Amazon, I believed layoffs were harsh. The mere thought of being let go in my previous jobs would have shattered me. Yet, thanks to Uncle Jeff and Uncle Andy’s shitty principles, I am now a proud Amazonian, absolutely elated to bid farewell to the less-than-ideal company I once was happy to onboard. Stuck between the idea of changing careers by pivoting or continue working on same track with same stack. While i need to work on the former idea, the latter seems to be my current pursuit. Currently looking for some leads in any of, Data Analytics, Business intelligence and Data Engineering. Appreciate any leads. Blind tax TC prior layoff ~190k L5 TC Now 📈0💸 Don’t want to reveal much more info. H1 clock is ticking, No PERM No i140 due to layoffs. 4/6 years over. Can move into H4 and get EAD too. Please advise what would be the best option here? Given the current economic outlook Yours obediently, Random Rajesh
Unfortunately all my family are here dude! Why are you here?
You should also explore business analyst roles in small companies.a friend recently got hired in a no name company in Texas
Totally agreed. Not worried about 💸. The only potential downside is small firms(Nonames) do not have experience in i140 and h1 matters Even if they are willing to do, they wouldn’t understand the emergency. A little bit of exposure to those will make it a lot easier
DM for SAP and anyone else for a referral!
I checked in SAP, and there are no data related roles
Thanks a lot for your offer. I would immediately DM you once I find a suitable role
Based on your closeness to entry level and situation you are not meeting the requirements of h1b. You should prepare to head home.
How does heading back home be a wise solution here? Care to elaborate? If it all makes sense, I have 2 years left in my h1 which gives me a legal right to work. I don’t mind leaving to my home country, but that’s not an option in the poll. You don’t know me and you don’t know my resume or skills. Just one layoff don’t define my career here I am PMP certified I have worked for 4 years in h1 and 2 years in f1 If it makes any sense I have 6 YOE. Please explain you response.
Try WITCH or similar desi consulting cos. I seem to get a random msg from one of them every week. TC might not be able to match $190k though
It will probably take 4 months anyways.
Stay strong man, you'll get ahead of this!
Thanks for your encouraging words! Yes that’s what we do Bounce back!
DM me for Raytheon
I don’t think Raytheon hires ppl on non immigrant visa But thanks for your help If I see a role I will shoot a DM right at you
Visa strategy in the US is nerve wrecking. So my sympathies with you. I voted to move to h4. But here will be my plan of action if I were you 1. Initiate h4 mobility 2. Meanwhile work on applying and getting interviews as much as possible 3. Assuming you don't land a job before h1 expires, and now you're on the 4 month waiting period for ead - upskill yourself like crazy. Get as many certs as possible. Get active on LinkedIn and other professional portals. Squeeze every single second on war footing 4. Once you get a new job which sponsors h1 and ead, get that done ASAP. OR get higher education while continuing working on h4 so the you can qualify for eb2 (assuming you don't currently qualify) Here are some things that my layoff taught me, 1. Save for 1 year worth of expenses not just 6 months. You can keep 6 months as cash and rest in easily liquefiable assets 2. Up skilling will resurrect you professionally. But it will require a lot of mental and physical stamina. So look for a physical activity that you can engage in regularly and be in shape 3. I've relocated back to India to eliminate the visa threat. But not the layoff threat. So my strategy is understand what I'm scared of and logically eliminate that. Look at your life as well in that perspective Good luck bro. Remember, every dusk has a dawn.
Dude you are awesome, I will treat this like my Bible! Thanks a ton!
I'm humbled. Thank you
So sorry to hear this. I responded to move on h4 but i also think that until that day keep applying on h1. Market is harsh so not sure how EAD will help but at least sponsorship part might open more doors. You will get a job as many companies are hiring now. Good luck.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! 🫡
