The job market is absolutely brutal right now
Was eng affected?
yes
How many / what % of eng
Do you have a news article link?
https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/airbnb-cuts-recruiting-staff-by-30-2023-03-03/
“Less than 0.4%”
How many engineers does it take to run that application. I would think under 350.
I just feel it’s a small app. Needs 350 engs for that? They still have lots bugs.
Yeah I would think even under 200..I said 350 for Android, web, iphone, payments, core product, DevOps/ SRE , internal tooling. Flutter takes care of the first 3.
WHAT?? I don’t believe this shit…. Airbnb is the dream
I am just as shocked
internally its a mess
What was the overall % of company / number of people affected
I don't see any news
Really?
Is this your first time hearing this

Why no news? Proof or BS
There’s a LinkedIn post
Did we WARN? Otherwise must be very small
Doesn't matter if you give at least 2 months severance.
Yep. Microsoft did it starting Jan 18th. There's a lot of us (10k) who were notified and has since lost all access. Technically, we're still employees (until Mar 18th) but we're locked out.
