Twilio has has grossly overinvested in Segment and is losing customers(check latest earnings, lost 4% of existing customers). Service is expensive, unreliable, has more competitors, and exists in a commoditized tech stack as middleware. It’s a useful service. But time for innovation is about over, no? Layoffs are inevitable.
