Any opinions on the SRE group for open shift at red hat? Is it worth it to make the move? Future prospects of the company/service? Offer: Base 130 10% bonus 10k rsu a year for 3 years. Remote Current TC: 121k, remote.
I see future in managed services by redhat
There is a future and lots of investment. But the current sre org is rather terrible and has no idea what they are doing
Pretty great SWE offer. OpenShift is a fun org to be in and I think the future is bright for it.
Do you already have OCP skills or are they training you? If the latter then presumably you have some k8s experience at least. But if you already have OCP, you can definitely push harder on RSU. And the SRE team has a lot of great talent and is part of a key focus area for the company, so lots of investment going there, I see no issues for the foreseeable future, and a lot of opportunity.
And by the way, never push for a higher level instead push for the highest possible comp in the lowest level that matches your requirements. I see so often people chasing levels for the sake of it/ego, not realizing that often the top of one level makes as much or more than the bottom of the next level. You give yourself more room for promotion and thereby TC increase in less time when you follow this advice.
YOE? I assume this is for Senior role? The org is focusing/investing a lot on managed services so I think future prospects are good.
No, this isn’t a senior role. <5 YOE
Right. I should have known based on the bonus %. swe gets 10. sswe 15. principal 20. Seems like a good offer for swe.
