Lease or Buy a car

How do you guys think leasing or buying a new car? The car I am thinking BMW 530e, Audi A5 Sportback. Giving that technology changes so repaidly, it makes sense to lease a hybrid 530e.

“until it is an suv”. Is there a car lease that gradually turns sedans into SUVs? Sign me up.

Sapient Razorfish URWR0N6 May 22, 2018

Lease if you hold less than 36-48 mo. Put very little down. This acts as an insurance policy (of sorts) if you’re in an accident and the car loses value. At end of lease, compare buyout to current market price. Decide if variance is worth purchasing.

New vehicles, especially European should be leased. If it’s a used Japanese then buy. Don’t consider used European vehicles

Why? (Car n00b here)

Amazon Big_Short May 22, 2018

How about Ford Explorers? Buy or lease? Haveing kiddos soon so I’ll need an SUV for awhile.

Google Mickey May 22, 2018

Somehow basically all of Europe survives without SUVs but somehow you need one for a single kid?

Amazon Hooliganss May 22, 2018

Turns out Europe does a lot of goofy things that we don’t do here.

Lease

eBay ottoman May 22, 2018

Get quotes for both leasing and buying and compare. Leasing should be 1% of the MSRP or less per month. Ideally $0 down

Oath DEADBEEFAF May 22, 2018

New cars, any brand, should always be leased. You simply don’t know how reliable the car is going to be. 3 years is just the timeframe that JD Power reliability rating comes out. You can decide if you want to keep the car after the lease.

Buy a 3-5 years used civic or camry for 10-15K. Why spend so much on a depreciating property?

Akamai Technologies qhgQ01 May 22, 2018

Some people really like and enjoy driving. If you can afford a nice car, why not

eBay ottoman May 22, 2018

Lol this argument is so tired. Why does everyone have to drive a Civic or Camry? What if we actually enjoy driving? Or we just appreciate the engineering that goes behind high performance cars? Just let us enjoy ourselves dammit!
