I received an offer from SpaceX. My pay would take a small hit but the equity is 200k, I’d have to go back to full time office. Is SpaceX a once in a lifetime opportunity or is taking a cash hit and wfh not worth it? Updated (copied from my comment below): non-eng, finance org, they came back and matched my current salary, with a starting bonus. And $200k over 5 years with current valuation of $150B and purchase offers every 6-9 months. I’d specifically be with starlink. TC: $175k
What valuation is the 200k at?
Current valuation is $150B ~$81/share
How big of a base salary hit are you taking?
They upped my salary and added a sign on bonus so now it’s pretty well exactly even. TC:$175k
Not sure SpaceX will be the exponential growth it once was. Starlink with higher revenue than it’s generating is baked into the price right now at $150B.
I’d be specifically working with starlink so if there is a spin off I’d likely be following starlink
Elon treats his employees like slaves. Go if that appeals to you.
No
If you're super passionate about the mission and willing to work 7 days a week for it then go for it. All depends on that I think.
Spacex is super intense work I’ve heard. Be prepared to be worked to death probably more than Amazon.
Cmon, man! Your comment has like zero substance. “I heard..” “Probably..”
I know people that have had interviews with them and they also know people who have worked for spacex. They were worked to death. Like 80-100 hours a week. Sleep in office. No family or personal life. Lot of stress they said.
If you love rockets and space so much you are willing to sell your soul and become enslaved to get the chance to work on them it’s a good choice. Otherwise anything else is better.
Give us your TC and then just send it. Just do it

Pay cut, paper money, wfo, toxic wlb and putting up to Elmo’s shenanigans seems no to me. But if you like the company mission and team, go for it.
It's not really paper money in the same sense as most early stage or pre-IPO companies. There are purchase offers every 6-9 months (subject to continued demand).
