Been doing marketing for 8 years and cannot imagine making emails and webinars for the rest of my life, so I’m considering quitting and going to a boot camp to become a dev. Hack Reactor appears to be the most respected on Blind. Do hiring managers take boot camp graduates serious? Do I stand a chance of landing a job at a decent company? Will my prior non-tech FAANG experience help post boot camp? 31 M NYC TC 175
I think if you’re a motivated self learner with an interest in tech you’ll be able to match your salary after a few years.
Thanks for the insights. Yeah costs isn’t a so much of a concern since it’s 10% of TC. More concerned with opportunity cost from doing an immersive boot camp and potentially starting my career over. I wish part time was an option but there’s not enough hours in the day for learning and Amazon
Have you looked at ATA?
No, what is that?
Amazon Technical Academy. It is essentially Amazon’s in house boot camp. You still get a pay check (probably not as much as you’re making now but not terrible) and are guaranteed at least an internship at the end of it.
I am in the same position. Been in retail past 5 years and this is not the career path for me. Have been considering ATA but missed the recent deadline and don't want to wait another 9 months to start. Curious what you went with, Hack Reactor or ATA?
Ended up doing neither. Learned SQL and Python and got a job in my org doing marketing analytics
