As title says, leaving Meta (first FAANG experience) after 6 months because wlb is terrible (oncalls heavy teams + not getting along with current manager). Should I mention it on my CV to show I that I could get into it or just claim this time to be sabbatical? Also, I am actively interviewing, should I tell the new company about leaving Meta? Do u think keeping Meta on my CV is a plus even for 6 months? #meta YOE 8 TC 175K EU
Definitely include it. Applying with Meta on your CV makes it so much easier. Cite the issues with oncall but don’t mention your manager
I would highly recommend to see if you can find a solution internally if you can. HR can make an exception and allow you to switch teams. Also discuss oncall load with the manager if you didn’t already. In any case I would list the experience especially if you can wait another 1-2 months. Just come up with a good story why it didn’t work
Second that
Of course do include it! Aren't you proud of being a Metamate?
Posts like these make me want to renege my offer. :(
Try to stick for another 6 months. You are burning bridge anyway, so just wait for them to PIP you. At least there is severance for doing nothing.
This. Getting pipped or in this case leaving extremely early is no different. OP should just practice leet code and start interviewing at other top companies in 2 - 3 months.
I would try sticking there until a year and in the meantime, interview at other places. If you really have to only stay 6 months, I think it’s ok to leave it there if this isn’t a common occurrence.
It’s going to show up on a screen.
I left Meta after contracting for a month. So far it eliminated phone screen with Google (I ended up passing the onsite) and countless other companies to reach out on LinkedIn just because I have Meta on my resume for a month (I know bc they all mentioned my Meta experience and wanted to talk about it more). I openly explained in all of the interviews I took why I left in a month, and didn’t cause me any problems so far. Currently sitting on a 230k Twilio offer, Google HC passed, and expecting an offer from Amazon tomorrow.
What reason did you give them for leaving that early?
I explained them what happened. Manager expected results from first week, was mean about it, it took a mental toll on me, they offered to switch teams but I believed same thing would happen again so I left.
Mind sharing your level at meta?

Oncall heavy thing is an organizational problem that takes about 6-12 months to fix but need support from your manager to be able to. Getting a mentor one or two levels above you would be a good start on taking steps. Terrible manager is hard to fix tho, good luck.
