Leaving company after 3 months?
I’m going to interview with Uber soon, but I just joined a company like a couple months ago. Should I tell Uber that I joined this company or keep them updated with my older resume? Note: I stated the interview process with Uber before starting the new job...
But I accepted the offer and joined while I was in talks with Uber. Now I’m going for the on-site at Uber. Won’t it look bad?
I agree. I’m about to interview there too and I’m only a few months into my job also. I was up front about it on the phone call and but the hiring manager was tops and more interested in my total career, not current job.
Why would you move from FB to Uber?
I’m a senior contractor at FB and I feel infantilized by being put in a box by less experienced, less informed first time managers. Becoming full-time seem to be a hurdle at my age also. Uber, on the other hand, is a very promising opportunity for having tangible impact on society and they’re about to IPO. I do like Facebook though and would definitely consider a full-time role but, it seems, hiring younger designers for growth versus mature designers for skills is the practice.
Yeah but you started the process with Uber after you got into your new job right? But imagine choosing a company over Uber when both interviews started the same time, then delaying on-site at Uber and then going back to Uber telling them that you joined the company but want to continue with them... do you think it’s still won’t look bad?
Best way to not look shady, is to not act shady.
When I got the offer from that company, I needed to join for money. I couldn’t wait for Uber to get back.

I delayed Uber because I had an emergency travel. When they got back to me with a new on-site date it was like a month and half ahead.
That is incorrect. There is no central warehouse which keeps track of your employment. Background checks will verify that you worked for the companies that you listed for the periods that you specified. They will not cold call random companies in an attempt to fill in any employment gaps. 🍆
