Leetcode interview preparation

I started to do leetcode almost on a daily basis 1 month ago, can spend up to 2-3 hrs daily, but no more than that, due to family and kids. I have over 10 years of expirience as engineer, and was thinking to apply at E5/L5 level at facebook/google, etc when I am ready. So far I solved 36 problems on leetcode total, 25 easy, 11 medium and 1 hard. My preparation includes both studying and solving problems. I understand that I am not even remotely ready yet, but trying to get a sense, at what stage, after how many problems solved it’s time to interview? Obviously overtime you get better and faster, and can do more problems per months of easy level, and do way more of medium and hard level. 4 months? 6 months? More than that? Thanks for any advice! #leetcode

Generally try to get to the point where you can solve any easy question within 15 minutes. Medium within 30 minutes and hard within 50 minutes . Of course this varies as some Mediums are just as challenging as some Hard. Also make sure you solve the questions without external help ( hints or Google of any kind). At Facebook you're also evaluated for speed so likely Medium within 20 minutes to get at least a chance.

I'd also suggest participating in the LC Weekly contest regularly. It'll help improve your accuracy and speed.

I did 450 LC over the course of 2 years. But I guess I was ready to interview when I had done 300

Where did you end up at?

Thanks for sharing! How many of these 450 and 300 very medium and hard level?

It is more about the time to think up and code a good solution rather than months to prepare or just a number of tasks. I'd say 10 min for most easy ones and 20-30 for a medium is a solid target. Hard maybe an hour, but maybe faster to a non-optimal solution. Weekly and biweekly contests are a great way to gauge progress. Good luck op!

Over the last 6 months I did 360 questions. I still didn’t feel ready but I crushed my FAANG interview
