So I have a ton of onsites scheduled and lined up across the country and have blocked out a week for them. It’s in about 3 weeks from now. I’m very worried that my manager will deny my PTO request because I am almost certain he is very suspicious of me interviewing around. (Strong impression from our 1-1s). I do indeed have a lot of PTO saved up, but I recently took a vacation for unrelated reasons... I can’t quit now without leaving a ton of cash on the table. What can I do?
You work for MS and request PTO approval from your manager? How about just blocking out your calendar in advance and sending a FYI? I am confused.
In worst of worst case, You can take a sick leave, make up something. Incase medical certificate is required go to ur GP and tell some symptoms and they will issue you one. Another idea, one of ur close relatives passed away and you have to go. I have used it a few times in my career. My Grandpa (God bless him) has been useful on 3 occasions.
Rest in peace, grandpa
Ever heard something like falling sick with flu like conditions - contagious type. Works for me all the time!
it illegal, the 👮👮♀️ will arrest you if you do it without manager's approval.
If you absolutely need to go, you don't take approval. You state a reason - your mother/ father/ Grandma is sick or you have a family emergency and just go.
A lot of companies limit the amount of PTO you can accrue. That's an easy excuse if it applies.
Don't do it OP. Look at what happened with Julian Assange!
