I have two same priced houses one has an average commute of 1-1.5 hours other one is walking to my spouse office. For me both are same commute. Only problem one is brand new (small lot size but modern style more bedrooms more living space) the other one is 100 year old (less living space/low ceilings/bad floor plan but twice lot size). Which one should I pick? Tc: 180

My manager is white but his manager is Indian
People have been saying number 2 for a long time now!
Yeah it something no one can tell
I had a similar situation, we went with the one closer to my spouse's office. Wasting 1 person's time is better deal than both people commutimg and wasting time.
There's a lot of research that long commutes not only cost a lot more money than people realize, they are also contributing factors to a lot of physical and emotional ills and increase your chances of divorce.
New houses are usually poorly built and made with cheap materials. Old house all the way. 1900 to 1940 is the sweet spot.
3 hours a day in commute ? Better have a nice car to enjoy the ride.
You think heβs driving on effin-Autobahn ?
Well you could leetcode with the time you save β howβs that ?
You are mostly paying for property anyways. Bigger lot with shorter commute? Old is a no brainer.
Neither, your spouse gets 2-3 extra hours to cheat on you
I trust my spouse more than your advice.
Who cares about a new house? My house is 100 years old. Itβs great!
Do you see dead people in your π ?
The commute only gets worse but you can update your house after you save some money. So basically there is no fix for commute but you can fix an older house.
