Thinking of applying, several interesting positions. Wonder what level would be relevant to matching my 500-600k TC there. 15+ yoe What's the pay structure (% bonus ranges, yearly refreshers targets etc...) @microsoft
what is your level at Facebook?
68+
Upper 67
Or 70
You gotta make a partner level.
OP, why are you considering leaving FB?
Multiple ones, mainly relate to aspects of company culture as well as negative impact on family life.
Thanks. Do you think it is limited to your team/org or is it prevalent across the office? I ask as I am in the hiring process.
That comp is possible at levels people say (68+ probably ) but you need to understand expectations. It ain’t going to be a 9-5 thing and you’ll be calibrated against people who have been inside the company for years - ICs with significant scope and decades of background in highly specific areas or managers with teams of at least 40, possibly much higher, all in critical product groups with a unique culture and lots of legacy code. wlb for level a 63 is very different than wlb for a level 68.
If you get paid that much, you are expected to deliver. Whether it is 9-5 or 8-10 is up to the persons ability to drive impact proportional to the salary. Working a lot is not a proxy for seriousness or impact.
Yeah I guess if you’re really good you can phone it in and work 8-5 and meet partner expectations. Or you hire in at that level and only give half AF. or you’ve been at level for a while. What I’ve observed is being competitive at principal and up takes a lot of commitment. OP said fb was having negative impact on family. I’m saying understand what you’re signing up for. They don’t just give $$$ like that away at msft. If you love what you’re doing great. If you don’t you’ll be miserable with a fat paycheck.
I may be wrong - and apologies that this is tangential to OP’s question, but looking at all these answers it seems like a 350TC is relatively easy and fast to get to in tech. 600-800 seems much harder than what I can see in banking tech if you’re good.
My understanding is those are NY salaries and people who work in the quant/algorithmic trading areas. Those are not considered “common”
Not necessarily - even just climbing the ladder - a newly minted MD in tech will get that , running a 80 people team. But yeah - it’s not common. You still have to beat thousands to get that.
Partner level. That’s very rare. Need a lot of luck and brilliant leadership to get there.
L67+
Thanks. What are median base and target /max for bonus and yearly refreshers at those levels?
Target is 475 assuming a base median of 220 (I believe 240 was a high target base). Upper bound: 700k..very very rare. More likely 530-600 range for top performers (but to realize that YoY you need to nail that at least 4 years in a row due to the vesting schedule) More likely scenario: 500 for 67
