Is leveling at Amazon/Twitch the same as Google? L4 = L4, L6=L6, etc? Got an offer for a Sr. Creative Strategist role at L6. $180 base. Negotiable sign on/year 1 and 2 bonuses ranging from $50-80k+ each year to make up for their later RSU vesting schedule and no movement on base due to Amazon’s base pay rules for levels. RSUs vest 5% y1, 15% y2 and 20% every 6mo in years 3 and 4. Thinking/Hoping I can negotiate up to a L7 (also curious as to base salary for that) but want to know how leveling works in comparison with Google’s. How much wiggle room I have to negotiate levels. It’s an individual contributor role until I hire 3 HC under me, so they discussed possibly fast tracking me to L7 in year 1 after I’ve hired up and became a manager. Thanks in advance! #Google #Amazon #Twitch
Equivalent levels at Amazon are generally one number higher than google. E.g L6 at Amazon = L5 at google.
Got it. That makes sense. So since I’m an L6 now I should be negotiating for L7 so I don’t step backwards.
How many YoE?

Good luck. I'm also thinking of hopping as well, but worried about the huge cultural difference. What's your take on that?
Not too worried about it. Google has a unique culture for sure but I’ve been here for nearly a decade. Worst case scenario, if I hate Twitch I can go back to Google or elsewhere. But feeling good about Twitch.
Are you jumping for TC gain as well? Usually people jump from Amazon to Google and not the other way around, hence asking...
For IC is one level lower, for managers it's equal level.
Go for L7. Otherwise it's just waste of energy
“Fast tracking” to L7 is just a fib told during the recruiting process. Negotiate for the L7 before accepting the role; it’s much easier to get the role up leveled during the hiring process than it is to get promoted after hire.
