. Summarizing a few quick thoughts and highlights below: - On the whole, Software Engineer pay was largely flat. We're not seeing a rebound yet for competition for talent. Layoffs have taken their toll and companies are not adjusting pay higher. In fact, many are lowering compensation targets. - AI/ML + AR/VR pay is up. Blockchain pay is down. Not particularly surprising tbh but we now have data to corroborate. - Hardware engineer pay is on the rise. We're hearing from comp managers that the talent landscape for hardware will become much more competitive in the next few years especially in semiconductors and related specialties. Chips are only increasing in important and a large percentage of talent is set to retire in next several years. That’s crazy.
OpenAI includes monopoly money stock. Take with a grain of salt

They have had multiple tender offers to include last round at $29b, and this is their current grant at current valuation. People there since pre-Covid have much more than $1m TC including PSU appreciation My boy’s been there for years and could go fuck off on his own private island now if he wanted to
Broadcom!?!
The dumbasses over at levels equated “MASTER” at Broadcom to staff even tho there’s people with literally 40 YOE as master there lol
They have a level called master? That’s pretty badass.
Don’t think plaid, broadcom and linkedin pays this for staff engineers
LinkedIn senior staff is a wide band matching L6~L7
LinkedIn staff is senior in other companies. Everyone knows it.
No Meta? We're getting 7 digits without even having AE for staff. With AE, 1.5M to 2M is possible.
Not true for LI. I can confirm the numbers on levels are inflated.
Nahhh levels.fyi is pretty accurate for LinkedIn comp.
Exceptional article OP
I'm surprised senior roles are still pushing 500k
Median pay for staff engineers at highest paying companies ≠ median pay for all staff engineers
