I know we like to say that there’s plenty of companies in tech but after having worked at several FAANG and recently getting laid off, it’s tough out here (especially in this market). Recruiters that aren’t on top of their stuff (yes I know we like to hate on FAANG recruiters but they’re much better than the rest of tech), >50% pay cuts, sloppy interviewers, inconsistent interview types, low response rates are all things I’ve seen in the last two months of my unemployment. Senior Eng, 6 YOE. Worked at Meta, Amazon, Google TC: 0
Sorry to hear, hang in there
Your problem is that within 6 years you worked at 3 fangs
How is that a problem?
I think that’s one of their points. Any good recruiter would understand tenure at Faangs.
What’s the hardest part of getting jobs for you right now? If you’re fucked, the rest of us are dead on arrival.
I’ve gotten a few interviews (mostly big tech companies). Some have had hiring freezes from start of interview to onsite, a few bad interviews, most just don’t respond
If bad recruiter is your problem our recruiters are def hiring and really good!
True
Does SpaceX hire Canadian citizens?
There’s a ton of good talent out there.
@OP - What were some of the most valuable things you learned while working at those FAANG companies? What were some of the project you were most proud of? I’m sure you’ll find something. Just give it some time.
u done it wrong going to all 3 and still hunting instead of FIREd
lol I’m 27 years old. Not anywhere close to FIRE’ing
were those internships or why u bounce so much, level up each time?
Why did you only stay 2 years on average at each company? I can understand AWS but I would be hard-pressed to hire you.
Recruiters are in general average workers. FANG recruiters are the higher end of those average Joes. Non FANG recruiters are the lower end. It’s that simple unfortunately
