They really take care of their employees. My boss is the nicest boss I ever had and team is the nicest team ever. No backstabbing or dirty politics. We do work hard. Understand some of all of this is highly team dependant.
Yeah it seems like by and large BB takes care of its people - good healthcare, good offices, other benefits. Seems like comp caps out early relative to FANG (at ~L5) but in the last ~6 months I've been seeing some very competitive offers.
@UncleDD, did you leave Bloomberg to join D?
It does depend on the team to a degree, but generally the environment is chill. Whenever I leave around 5pm I cannot believe the amount t of people just rushing out the exit at 5pm. I recommend it if you like to chill. No FAANG style compensation though.
Great, thank you
What I'll suggest is this: 1. If you are early in your career and want to prioritize learning/growth don't come to Bloomberg. 2. If you are later in your career or even not and just want to coast, BBG is the place to be. The wlb is pretty good on most teams. You won't make FANG money but you'll probably also work much less.
I think BBG is a good starting place actually. There are so many things to work on that it will be a great place to explore your interests.
Isn't the so many things to work on true for any big tech co? I'd prefer to start at a place with strong engineering practices like Google that lays foundation for a good engineer.

Standard disclaimer, depends on your boss / team. In general, it's super chill, you don't work that much and you are really well taken care of(speaking as tech). The biggest complaint is the work but honestly it's not really that big of a difference in other tech firms, they all have legacy code but it's just much older legacy code vs say php at Facebook. The next biggest complaint is growth. The heirachy is literally flat for software engineer since there's just 2 levels. So once people are near the 350k cap, they either jump to Google / Facebook or move to management.

Thank you for the elaborate answer! I'm also trying to connect this to - why bloomberg? I have an interview coming up and I dont know much about BB, or even why I would like to work there lol Would you consider it a collaborative / team oriented environment? Work is challenging, interesting? I would like to develop this interest in BB and portray this interest.
