Last week there was a post in Blind from an Accenture employee contracting with Facebook facing inhuman expectations. Looks like this is something planned by Facebook bosses. https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-contractor-austin-job-cuts-accenture-break-time-tracked?utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=topbar
This is normal at FB. Contractors were always discriminated. Some fb offices still have separate cafeteria times for contractors. Only after all FTEs are done with food, contractors are allowed leftovers. No physiological safety and wlb.
WOW! That tells a lot about the company.
Lol that is not true, they eat and sit in same space
Sepárate cafeteria and all that is all BS. Don’t believe that.. The truth is that many contractors feel the pressure is too much because they are expected to work with the same quality that employees do, and of course the entry bar for being a contractor in many places(including Accenture) is much easier than for becoming an FTE at Facebook. I’ve known contractors that work at Microsoft and do okay (not great) and then go do a contract at Facebook and are like “whoa how am I supposed to perform like this”. It’s normal and it’s not just at Facebook.
The contractors i’m working with, go to the same office, work same hours, eat same food in same cafeteria and hours
Free food for contractors as well?
Yes, of course (if they are at the office) we got 3 free meals a day in office restaurants, no one checks if you are a contractor you just go and eat
I loved contract working with FB. Made twice as much and got paid for overtime. Without a doubt the best freelance gig I ever saw. Got converted to FTE after a year. Also based in Austin. My experience has been nothing but great.
How was the converting process? Did you have to through full loop?
Yeah, had to be «looped» but it was pretty easy tbh as my boss who encouraged me to go fulltime was one of my interviewers. And 3 other people I work with. Maxed out the payband in every way. ;)
Metamates, what do you think of your Accenture contractors?
An agency just reached out for a contractor position at $43 HR. It's for contracts/sourcing, so non. Tech but isn't this low?
yoe?
It always sucks as a contractor. First to go. Last to come back. And the contracting company only passing 1/4 of what they bill Facebook to your salary.
Yep, ask me why I didn’t ever do contracting. At that time at that company contractors were being paid way more than FTEs. I was like yeah I’m good man with (more) job security, medical, 401k, paid leave etc.
