Got approached by a recruiter for engineering manager position at LinkedIn. I searched old post and the TC seems to be pretty low, although they could be outdated. Anyone has recent data for Bay Area? Currently M1@FB, yoe 13, TC 650K. Not actively looking but kinda feel the burnout and want to try some other opportunities. If the EM TC from LinkedIn is too much lower then I figure it won't make sense. #linkedinsalary #linkedin

How many engs in your team? Linkedin em is parallel to LinkedIn staff, just high end of that range like 500-550k, so hard to compete with m1.
Thanks! I haven't asked about the team yet but think it's around 10 people. It's interesting to know EM is parallel to staff. I thought LinkedIn senior staff is same with FB E6 which is same level with M1. So moving from M1 to LinkedIn EM is like one level down?
Most senior staff at linkedin report to director. If you already have a team size of 10 at fb, I feel it is not worth for em at linkedin, you should try senior em. I saw some google team leader managers interviewing for LinkedIn em, if they are targetting a true manager title and scope.
Only reason to join LinkedIn from FB is if you want more WLB. But you will be trading TC for it. LinkedIn refreshers are worse.
Worse as in GOOG or worse as in MSFT?
The issue is mainly that LinkedIn refreshers are not deterministic. Your manager gets X amount of equity to divide up on the team. The guidance is if you get exceeds you’re guaranteed some refresher, but at meets you are supposed to get nothing. In practice it’s not that simple. I’ve seen people get little to no stock with exceeds and I’ve personally gotten decent stock with meets. Overall it’s just inconsistent. Usually high performers are rewarded well but there’s other factors. It’s not like Google or Facebook where it’s mostly a formula to find what refresher you get for what level and rating.

Well, what can I say. I am not even on the lower side compared to my peers. The TC was not as high as today when I joined in 2018.
