LinkedIn Eng sr. manager offer eval

Base: 245k Bonus: 20% Target Signon: 60k RSUs: 900k (over 4 years) TC is coming to around 520k. I'm currently an eng manager (level 6) at Google and current TC is 460k.. Wanted to know the above offer compares with a typical Sr. Manager offer at LinkedIn. I know this sounds petty (especially since 520k is a good number) but the feeling of being low-balled really sucks. Ill be happy if I'm closer to the median.. I joined Google 3 yrs back from a smaller startup and realized a bit later that my offer at that time was on the lower side, the bottom quartile. Even though I was comfortable with the money I was making, it really left a bad taste that I never got over. I don't want to make the same mistake again. Yoe: 14 yrs

What’s the proposed level at LI?

Google majji OP Mar 5, 2019

It's "senior manager". Not sure what level it matches to but I believe it is equivalent to my current level at Google (which is 6)

As someone making less than half of that, damn that looks like a ton of money

Blend tKRb03 Mar 5, 2019

until you realize that this person is probably married, has kids and a bunch of other obligations that make their monthly burn like 8-12k

Intuit z9nkay Mar 5, 2019

Do you have to have kids to be a director / sr. Manager?

LinkedIn gled Mar 5, 2019

Senior manager is equivalent to L6. Your pay package looks pretty decent. I'd push harder on sign on and equity. Also keep in mind you likely won't get a Refresh at LinkedIn for 2-3 years.

Google majji OP Mar 5, 2019

Thank you. What is a reasonable equity for a Sr. Manager?..1 million?..1.2 million?

You have a good offer. Definitely above avg senior manager offer. You already negotiated right? This cannot be the initial offer.

Google majji OP Mar 5, 2019

Actually this was the initial offer but I was told that this is pretty much the final offer and they have pretty much pushed the limit here ....(also, before they made the offer, the Director spoke with me in detail, asked about comp expectations and told that he will do his best to make this compelling for me. )

Have you tried Facebook? They will pay you more.

Google majji OP Mar 5, 2019

Tried FB as an IC last year and did not make it. My self confidence took a massive beating. Wanted to try again this year and reached out to my old recruiter but she showed little interest (she said she will get back to me but went cold. Maybe I screwed up real bad last time). Moreover, it just didn't feel like I can survive at FB even in the unlikely event of me clearing the interview (which is why I didn't push harder or reach out to other friends at FB)

Facebook wwTk78 Mar 5, 2019

Why do you think you can't survive?

I’m really curious what the EM interview was like.

PM me if you are interested to know details..

LinkedIn inlook Mar 6, 2019

Your offer is on the high side of Sr Mgr from what I know. Probably above median.

Google majji OP Mar 6, 2019

Thank you. This is good to know.

I think this offer is decent, i have a staff friend there and he makes around 450K, This is equivalent to sr staff basically next level. Btw, i am planning to move to bay area, whats the monthly burn rate assume you have two kids and take a decent 3BHK (may bd around 4k). What will be my monthly spend like? I need to know before i talk to my hiring manager there about my salary. Thanks
