Graduated phd from a shit school in machine learning. Working in Amazon as an applied scientist in machine learning for 2 years. Poor work life balance and frequent team reporg. Got an offer in linkedin MLE and Verizon labs. Which one should I choose? Verizon pays bad but it can offer more freedom in my research to strengthen my theoretical background of ML. LinkedIn pays similar but it can give better work life balance. Does it worthy to improve my theoretical background? I don’t think it matters too much in my work. I am working search and recommendation algorithms.
Good comment. TC now is 300k at Amazon. Verizon gives 200k. LinkedIn gives around 300k
LinkedIn is a no brainer here. Verizon will lay you off in a recession which is somewhat of a concern. LinkedIn, Microsoft, will be safe and pay more.
I can assure wlb is better in Verizon but you should only consider Verizon if they pay more than others. LinkedIn by miles.
Linkedin 100%
Is there any vote for the lab research work?
Verizon is not a good place to do ML research. There is not much talent around ML or they couldn’t hire good exceptional talent because of the pay. Stay away..
You can find that out by looking around how many papers were published in ML space by Verizon or someone had talk in some good ML conference.. literally it would be zero

I don't know how low Verizon pay but Verizon will offer the best work life balance and stability.
Verizon is going to be around 130-150 k. They don't pay what everyone else pays. But the benefits are good. Good starting position with a known company name . I would still interview for all 3 .
Verizon has solid benefit and work life. I am sure Verizon can match the offer too.
No they won't
First things first. Put the offer details for both. Put your current TC. Then go to LinkedIn, no brainer
