Asking for a friend: Joined as senior at LinkedIn recently. Entire stack is new and progress in very slow in onboarding. What are some good ways to onboard on scala, pcv2, regression modeling and team specific material? Right now onboarding is very slow and has less direction. What are some good ways to use onboarding mentors? Onboarding mentor gives minimal information to questions posed to them.
In hindsight, he should've asked more questions in his interview before accepting this job.
What team
It's a matter of time. You'll get there.
Same. Company onboarding is ok. Team onboarding is terrible. Docs if any are scattered everywhere.
Sounds like a bad team?
Maybe your friend is constantly pinging questions? They should try catching up once in the day with their mentee and clarify everything with action items until the next time they meet
I had joined as swe few years ago. (India) Had a bad onboarding experience. Very little to no proper documentation. What work I was given was way different to what i was told during interview. Manager was supportive, helped me change teams.
