After the Blind community kept telling me how important LinkedIn is nowadays, I finally created an account. And within 8 hours they locked it for apparently violating their terms of service (all I did was fill out my profile, didn’t even try to connect with anyone yet). Now they want me to provide my driver’s license to verify my identity. This seems so bizarre and invasive to me. Has anyone provided their driver’s license before?
You must have done something nasty 🙂🤣
I did nothing! I filled out my job history, my education, uploaded my standard photo, verified my email, and then shut my laptop off. Next morning it was flagged.
Interesting - never knew LinkedIn used drivers license for verification
I have seen this happen to some one else as well when their is a doubt on your profile due to similar profile (name yoe match not sure) or just to verify that the credentials are correct. Now a days due to lot of bogus accounts, they might have done this. I don’t see any harm in providing an Id proof, once you do it it all works fine.
I guess I’m a little worried about crossing that line in terms of privacy and security. If there’s ever a data breach or something with LinkedIn, there’s my license out there. Am I overreacting?
I cannot judge you but normally I won’t worry about DL submission that much. When I worked at a consulting company, all vendors used to take h1 and dL copy before submitting it to end client. Most of these vendors are small companies with probably no/low security in place and also most of these submissions won’t even get an interview call. So I would confidently bet on some thing like LinkedIn having better security in place.
delete it, I’m protesting against LinkedIn. Join me. I had over 2000 connections and then I deleted it. Fuck LinkedIn
Is your name Harry Dick?
😂
Op any updates? Were you able to get your account back? If so can you advise please. Thanks!
Create another account.
Do people do that? Seems awkward if people find two accounts for the same person
