Currently have new grad offers from both Stripe and LinkedIn. TC is roughly the same once you account for cost of living expenses, since LinkedIn would be in Sunnyvale and Stripe would be in Seattle. Curious what people think about both these companies and which they'd choose. I'm just starting my career, and I'd prioritize career growth and trajectory over WLB at this point (although I don't want to be working 50+ hours a week). I interned at LinkedIn this past summer, and found the pace to be extremely slow in my org, which gives me some pause about the career growth I'd have. I'd be returning to the same org full-time. I’d take LinkedIn simply because I’m more intrigued by a social media site than financial services keeping everything else the same. Also actual stock units rather than imaginary stripe bucks.
this is such a crazy take "keeping everything the same" i feel like u have 0 idea of stripes business model
LinkedIn have revolutionized a few key pieces of tech like Kafka for example, pay way more than stripe, give delicious Msft RSU, aren’t a super overvalued pre ipo fin tech (look at block and robinhood), have more revenue and growth than stripe, etc. It really seems like a no brainer to me
Avoid Seattle
Heard really bad stuff about LinkedIn from friend working there
How bad? Amazon bad?
Very very bad. I can testify
Why would u pick linkeidn if you already said you don’t like it
I enjoyed my time, and I'm not opposed to returning at all. I just felt like it might be hard to progress since it seemed so relaxed, and I might not grow as much. I made the poll and post because I'm curious what people thought of the career growth opportunities at both stripe and linkedin.
If you don’t mind then take Linkeidn. There’s no reason to grind if it’s not your company. Work is just means to get paid and live your life, so LinkedIn prob easier to chill and relax. I mean both companies are mature at this point I doubt there’s much to gain or grow, maybe stripe will ipo but it’s unlikely you will get big pay off. Might as well take msft stock which is real cash. Stripe you’ll def work more, but whether you’ll learn more is uncertain. Rest and vest is the way
How much LC, what advice do you have for current students? I’m a junior and want to be able to go to a cool company when I graduate. I’m a LC baby rn, any advice would be appreciated
I did all of grind75 (like all 170 problems) and some other problems, maybe like 200 total problems. Stripes interview didn't really contain LC style questions though.
I’ll get er done. thank you bro, congrats again on your offers you earned them!
I work at stripe and work 50+ hours a week and occasionally cry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the work is interesting but honestly I wouldn’t mind something slow rn
What is LI new grad tc
What has blind come to. You need to provide offer numbers!
LI has different bands depending on the exact role and level of education. Don't wanna give too much revealing information. I'll say that Stripe first year is around 210k, reoccurring is 180k. LinkedIn is in around the same ballpark (think somewhere from 230-270) first year, and around 40k less reoccurring.
