Linkedin Profile

Is it worth having one as a new grad? Or would you be better off cold applying? Mostly interested in Jump Trading, Jane Street, Radix, Headlands, and some others like Snap and Deepmind. Will be joining a well known company (not Amazon.) TC: 220k (negotiated)

It’s worth it to have one, in my opinion. It makes you more visible to employers, and people can write recommendations on your profile to make you appear more credible and trustworthy.

I put a ton of work into my linkedin and it helped me land my last 3 jobs including my current one at a late stage unicorn biotech startup. All 3 were recruiters finding me, I didn’t even apply or anything, because my profile was fleshed out and had keywords pertaining to my experience. Can’t stress enough how crucial it is. Also top companies have found me via LinkedIn, such as Amazon, Uber, Twilio, Facebook, and more all via linkedin. I haven’t cracked their interviews but your inbox will be bumpin my friend.

Yes, you'll get tons of recruiters reaching out that way

Any notable ones in your experience? I heard a lot of people only heard from no name companies or third party recruiters

Amazon Day-2 Apr 9, 2022

Yeah, FAANG recruiters reach out this way too

It does not hurt to have one. Just create one and see.

I attribute linkedin at least on some way to my last 4 jobs. From actually applying on linkedin to hitting up recruiters at the company I want to work for
