How helpful is it to have a Linkedin and how detailed should one’s information be? I like my privacy but I also want job leads so I’m on the fence about creating a profile for myself. Please share your thoughts. Thank you! #linkedin #jobsearch
It's pretty important. Recruiters use your LinkedIn as a reference to contact you. There's no other way for them know you exist 🤷
Thank you. This is very true.
Super useful
Love LinkedIn
Gotta know how to use it: - Write you bio concisely, with future employers in mind. - Share what's relevant and reflects positively on you. - Demonstrate your impact with thoughtful examples. - Craft a compelling description, but don't overuse buzzwords/imaginary checklists of generic skills. - Avoid seeming desperate or unauthentic. It's ok to note that you're passionate about stuff, but sometimes it feels way off (e.g. "passionate about meeting deadlines with high standards code in agile environment") - Overall ensure your profile leaves a bold impression for the positions you're aiming for - ask hiring manager friends for feedback - Most importantly, if you aim for SWE at FAANGs, your writing probably won't matter much as long as you pass some dry criteria. Keep leetcoding.
This is great information. Thank you!
I had mine professionally revised and it made a big difference (got lots of interviews after this)
Highly useful! That’s where majority of companies are, especially big companies, when they’re finding applicants.
Thank you!
LinkedIn has helped me a lot in my job search. Almost all big companies post their opening in LI these days.
How I found my current job
I job hopped 6 times, all through linkedin
Curious how long did you stay at each
