I see from levels.fyi that over half of TC at Stripe is, generally, equity. Given that Patrick Collison has said Stripe isn’t going public any time soon, if ever, how much luck have people had getting liquidity out of their equity? Are they options or RSUs? Not considering a move; just curious, since I worked at another company where the stock was illiquid for a long time and it soured me a lot on equity compensation. TC: $500K YOE: 15
They give Rsu’s. Once it vests it’s yours to keep even if you leave the company
Thanks for confirming that they’re RSUs. That’s why I was wondering about liquidity - RSUs are taxed when they vest, right? So unless there’s market demand for them, you’re paying income tax on compensation that may be illiquid. So I’m wondering if there’s been decent demand on the secondary market for them, and how much of a discount to the 409a valuation folks have to offer them at to actually sell.
No they are double trigger so you don’t pay taxes till the company ipo’s or gets bought
😄
Stripe will burn in ipo
Didn't you get through their interview?
