Family is away. Hard to make genuine friends. I hate my life Tc: 230k
Don’t think of yourself as “an immigrant” if you are on a temporary guest worker visa
If you haven't walked a mile in OP's shoes, don't speak for OP. Fuck off you poor white little leaguer incel making under 300k a year.
I'm on a temporary work visa but will be marrying a US citizen this year. I am also white. Should I consider myself an immigrant?
😢
It's hard for anyone in a new location. It takes two years to make friends and feel comfortable and you have to work at it. You can always return home.
Sorry to hear that OP. Take care of yourself.
You will be fine, just give it some time.
Watch movies and TV shows from your hometown and find discussion groups online for them. You can carve out part of your life for the familiar to relax and then take the rest of your life as be alert and present to the foreign. For example, I frequently ate my home country’s food and occasionally only invited 1-on-1 people from my home country to hang out whenever I felt too stressed out about it. Also if you have a hobby that is mostly agnostic to country (outdoor sports, arts, modern music) you can find some good friends to talk with to help with loneliness. It’s a normal feeling to get when going from countries with large borders or distinct culture to a new place. I immigrated twice in my life and will probably do so a third time. It doesn’t get easier but you get more experienced if that makes sense?
Be grateful for what you already have. That will make you satisfied

Find others like you and meet with them
Or move back to homeland. Money is not everything. I took my own advice.
