There’s considerable news bashing Zuck (sometimes rightfully so) and how much money is being spent on R&D of the metaverse ($20billion+/year) People are forgetting that adoption of new technology takes time and tweaking. Meta is far ahead of its competition at the moment. Horizon Workspaces, while meme-like now, can really transform virtual work once real time face augmentation becomes better. Yet Meta is highly profitable. While adoption amongst young users has died in Western countries for Facebook, IG and FB are growing yoy in African and Asian markets and dominating the ad space. 5+years, he will be seen as a genius. Remember peeps. Don’t fall for news trends. Live your life and try and see the true value of a product by doing your own DD TC245k stock crash YOE 5 #metaverse #zuck
Core business is not doing well. 40% revenue drop yoy. Metaverse was Zucks shot to solve the decline in growth due to TikTok and Apple tracking changes. Unfortunately, he put all his eggs in one basket and got exposed quickly. History tells us that the company that first introduces a new tech trend usually looses. Hotmail, yahoo chat, MySpace are good examples. So chances are pretty slim
Revenue dropped by 4%. 40% drop was net income / earnings
I stand corrected, 4% rev drop and 50% profit drop
I hope you r right. I’ve lost all my fortune on $META
Nobody's going to use it for virtual offices. Why would anyone want to strap on a device to their face to attend meetings when you can simply do a video call? Video games and entertainment are the only use cases. And even for these, there's a huge gap between where the technology needs to be vs where it is now.
Wouldn't it be obviously easier. You can sit anywhere and tap a button on your glass and have your entire workstation spawn, with virtual monitors and a virtual keyboard, which can be projected on any solid plane and yoh can tap your keys there. Why do I think its the obvious next big thing.
There is definitely a large gap between where it needs to be and where it currently is, not only is the technology not there yet but we’re basically burning money at this thing to get it there. However, the concept is still very strong with massive potential, absolutely none of that potential involves meetings imo. I seriously don’t understand why meetings are always brought up with the metaverse, if we were pouring billions just for better meetings I’d be a lot more stressed lol, still stressed that we’re pouring billions into something so far into the future but it’s currently a manageable amount of stress😂
Bought 6 figures of some meta today and plan on buying more
And awaiting meta offer lol
Why don’t you just show your real face with a decent camera? Is it too ugly so you need the augmentation?
You really think, meta's stock is going down due to metaverse. As if Wall Street understands, semiconductor, cloud, artificial intelligence or any other technology. They purely understand numbers and once meta start putting it back, stock will rebound.
One of the few sane comments
Facebook/IG gaining users Africa, South America is not as profitable as those markets have lower ad spend compared to richer regions. Metaverse feels like emporers new clothes. IE: If you don't think Metaverse is the future of computing, you're too dumb or shortsighted.
Have tried quest2. Horizon worlds is amazing. They have to fix the eye strain issue though.
Investors point of view: - distraction from core business in an environment with strong competition - better alternate ways to strengthen position - timing could be way better given economic instability, on going war conflict - expense ratio for something like r&d vs all in bet on VR seen as obsession - no voting authority on board giving no audit controls
Ofc we will see them coming back if an when results start showing up. Until then everyones taking their money somewhere else. Letting zuck play/innovate at his own expense
How are things at Medallia?
