Hello everyone, I'm a CS major at a T10 school graduating in Spring 2024. I'm just now finishing up my first SWE internship with Home Depot working on a website this summer and am starting to apply and research for next summer. If anyone has tips to actually getting my resume seen instead of thrown in the pile at these companies or have can give me a referral, feel free to let me know. Not looking for any specific companies but would like to go into the tech/finance industry. I went out to meet recruiters and managers. Most swe are terrible at networking, so if you are even average at it, they will remember you.
How do you go about doing this? I try to cold message campus recruiters on LinkedIn and almost always get ignored.
wtf 20/hr for swe intern?
Palantir dm
Can I DM as well? T5 CS school + incoming junior with 300+ LC
Can I DM?
Don’t go to Quantcast
why?
Company just did 6% lay offs in rush without a plan in place. They literally laid everyone off so the CTO and CEO can go on vacation. Had an all hands a few days later and the CEO’s reasoning is that other companies are doing lay offs -.- There aren’t any company goals, we’re in a bad place financially and poor management overall.
Feel free to dm for referral (if you’re OP or otherwise)
Whatever you do, don’t join Quantcast.
why?
Layoffs happened in a hush for very talented folks I know of. Bad middle management and leadership overall. Company is bleeding money and has no vision to IPO. They do hire engineering interns and keep them longest because they do not cost a lot. But after a while, the growth is stagnant.
Join cscareers.dev discord and then ask for a resume review in #resume It needs to be parsable by ATS and include metrics, keywords, Github link with contributions, etc.
