Thinking about leaving Raytheon for L3. Seems to be a lot of SW engineers are being targeted by L3. What is it like at L3
Like any organization it depends on the program you land on. L3 is similar to Raytheon and all the other defense companies there are trade offs on benefits, currently I think L3 benefits may be slightly better. They will give competitive offers but after you are in the the door bonuses are similar to Raytheon. Nothing to rave about from what I hear. All these companies are seeing retention of 2-3 years then employees move on to somewhere else or find a role that will pay for the skills u have acquired. It is what it is. The current business structure is so heavily focused on employee hiring that there isn’t nearly as much put towards retention. That’s how the markets are set up. Investors don’t see calculate retention numbers into business success. So until companies flip that or business investors and markets change the measures employees have to do what is best for them and what makes them happy. I know a couple of peers who left Raytheon for L3 them came back by the 2 year mark. It was just business for them. These companies typically trade employees. I recently accepted my offer from L3. Came with a 20% pay increase.
