Hi guys, im looking for referral for a software engineer position (entry level is fine), or general advice is appreciated. I took the wrong turn and started my career as an SDET. i realized that the role is not what i went to school for CS for and started applying for SWE. but so far ive been getting bunch of rejections likely because they see SDET on my resume. any help appreciated! interviewing: amazon, docusign referred (havent heard back): microsoft, fb, google TC: 110k (virginia) yoe: 1 edit: prefer backend role
Bump
What do you not like about SDET? As someone who has been both in my career I will tell you the role is completely different company to company and team to team. For us most of our sdets are as technical as our devs, even better.
Well from my experience at microstrategy, SDETs are treated like failed CS students and kinda looked down upon. I felt offended when they called us QAs
I hope it’s different at DocuSign
Hey what's up. If you are getting rejected at the resume stage, then you should probably try to get your resume reviewed (check out reddit CSCQ). You can also msg me and I can give you some tips / review your resume.
