I've worked at Amazon for more than 7 years and I think its time for a change. My dream is to FIRE and live multi-nationally, and I think I've saved up enough of a nest egg to start looking for a job that actually cares about the people working for them. I'm looking for a company with good WLB that also will let me work from any combination of the US and some other country (like Germany ideally). Specifically, I want to be able to travel back and forth between the US and this other country without having to switch jobs or negotiate with the company. A reasonable tech salary would be nice, but is not required. I am American with no other citizenships. Is this even possible or am I searching for a unicorn? If its not possible with the parameters laid out above, is there a way to make it work? Does anybody else do this? Current total comp: ~$370k #tech #wlb
red hat
It's a tax and visa hassle for the company. But TTD could do it.
Can you add more? How do you know they can do that, do you have experience with this?
Sort of. Yes I've done it. Company has to partner with you for a reason... not just to satisfy your youthful whims.
I'm not actually sure if they allow working from two countries, but SAP is a German company known to be a bit more chill compared to others. You'll probably be getting a pretty steep paycut though
Panama gives perm res for 40k, good time zone.St Kitts, Antigua selll passports
Also don't tell them you're living in a diff company, say you're WFH in the US and keep ally our legal stuff there. Use VPNs for US up etc
I would prefer not to commit tax evasion
I’ve seen this at Microsoft, many Americans relocate to an office in Europe (Dublin, Prague, Tallinn, Oslo, etc), but still need to come back to the Redmond office for a few months per year for work reasons. They do not keep the US salary. But the work trips to Redmond are expenses by the company.
Microsoft.
I dont really believe that Microsoft would be willing to do this, or at the very least it would heavily depend on the team you land in. Do you have any personal experience on this within Microsoft?
