Do any blizzard employees have access to the salary spreadsheet going around? Could you show it, or make a copy and send it out? it would be helpful to other people in the industry to see a copy of this information. #gaming #blizzardcompensation #blizzard
Wow that pay is shit
Probably their QA folks mostly though. But yeah, they can do better working remotely these days.
I doubt it but it would be fascinating to see.
wish someone did one for Activision too. QA tester here making $13.50 an hour, which is even worse than Blizz’s. we’re people too (barely).
I'm really sorry to hear that... are you looking to move companies?
oh yeah. i’m a laid off software engineer, so i’m looking for my next job and took this to keep me busy for now. so no need to be sympathetic for me! lol maybe i’m to used to being salaried, but it’s been jarring working an hourly, menial labor job. i feel like it’s working Burger King in high school all over again... lol i know a lot of my coworkers are young and inexperienced, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any real way to move up and even moving up in the QA track doesn’t seem to pay well which is sad.
The senior software engineers in Austin are making between $135k - $158k which is good for the area. It’s the Irvine salaries that are horrible.
Those seniors came from Irvine
Not all seniors came from Irvine. Engineers have been hired in the Austin area starting with competitive salaries, it is unfortunately very inconsistent and unfair.
People acting like it’s not common knowledge that gaming industry salaries suck lol
Might be that we just pay way better than our peers but I was shocked how low these were
I still don't understand this. It you're not happy with the pay don't take the fucking job.
I left gaming industry and pay more than doubled instantly. Good thing with software engineers is that skill set is easily transferrable. But yeah, it’s a result from tons of people in gaming being overly passionate and not caring about pay. A lot of ex-coworkers after being told of software pay outside of gaming, they just said they don’t care they just want to make games. 🤷♂️
Right, exactly. Why is there such an uproar. You ever met someone that works in non profit?
I spent 10 years at another AAA company and only finally made over $60k in my last year there. The pay is disgusting in the industry.
GTFO of Blind Slasher.
Used to make only 100k at blizzard, quit 3 years ago. now almost 300k doing much easier work.
Never mind, I found someone else posting it docs.google .com/spreadsheets/d/119RI3oS9XNOjq2X8VLpUOMpyarcMsNzid-nA1OqbXkA
Principals making 200k wow. No wonder their talent pool sucks
Think about the benefits though ....
