Never really messed around with programming languages so I have the experience and knowledge of a toddler. It looks like I'll need to upskill myself to transition. (Gap from education) Any recommendations on where to start?/YouTube vids of lectures/means to practice?
When looking at examples of existing SQL/Python code, get GPT-4 or Copilot or something like that to break the code down what is being done step by step. At least that helps me understand and learn, hopefully remember and apply some of the steps in another context.

Start with SQL Udemy/Coursera course. Years ago, I completed one of these 12 hour courses in a day and then applied for analytics jobs, getting one and then upskilling on the job to the point where I lead an analytics team now. The important thing is to get the base and start applying what you learn on real data. It’s a nightmare trying to learn SQL and Python theoretically. You only really learn when you start applying it
I’d add that SQL is particularly easy to pick up the basics as the syntax is very easy. Of course, there are levels to it. With Python, there’s a lot more work that you need to put in to understand the fundamentals. I’m no expert here, having just done a few intro courses
