Hello everyone, I am an SDE2 at Amazon in Bay Area with 5+ YOE. I got promoted to this role about two years ago, SDE3 seems a few years out and I am not motivated enough in current role. I have considered changing teams, but if starting afresh in a new team I thought it makes sense to look outside as well and see if the market can pay me higher comp. There is no comp change when transferring internally at Amazon at the same location. I’m looking for advice on companies with decent WLB, this is important to me for personal reasons. Current TC is $225k, 25-30% hike is what I’m looking at, taking all the numbers on blind as reference which should be around $300k. Thank You <Edit> Work location has to be Santa Clara County, Palo Alto is OK.
Which team u with?
I’d blow my cover if I give you team details, sorry.
You can get 300k from Uber easily at L4. Even 400k if you manage to get L5a
Updated description. Thank You, looking specifically in Santa Clara County.
Uber has an office in Palo Alto
Facebook, google, LinkedIn, Dropbox, Twitter, snap. If you’re ok with paper money, then also Pinterest, airbnb, Uber, lyft. 🙂
Thanks, not interested in paper money. How’s pay at LinkedIn for Amazon L5 equivalent ( should be Sr. SDE according to levels.fyi ). Do they negotiate if given competing offers?
Maybe 260 TC? Just a guess. But they should negotiate with competing offers
wow, Amazon pays that bad?
I hope you’re sarcastic! It’s still a decent chunk of money. I know SDE2’s who get paid much more, but they came in on high TC with more experience. I’m recently promoted, so in the early half of the SDE2 range.

Never forget that people on blind happily exagerate / add-up stock growth and stuff to their tc. 225k TC is a lot of money
Thanks, I agree 225k is a lot of money; much higher than when I started as a new grad. It would would not make much sense to change companies without a decent hike, I’m well settled in current role. But I’m looking for a new challenge ( preferably outside ) and I’m not going to say no to a 25% hike if I’m given one.
