I'm an SDE with over 10 years of experience as well as experience mentoring junior engineers. The fact is I feel burnt out and unmotivated. I'm looking to make a switch and this is what I've come up with as far as what's important for me: - Low or no oncall load - Good WLB - I want to put in my 9 to 5 but want to leave work behind afterwards - Good inexpensive health insurance. Need to provide coverage for my family - Collaborative work environment. I've been on too many teams where we only ever talk during sprint planning and then everybody disappears for 2 weeks. I like talking through solutions to problems whether it's something I'm working on or someone else on the team is - TC preferably $350k+ Obviously not gonna turn away opportunities for more but also not looking for paper money. I'm in the process of doing LC prep but would like to put together a list of companies to target. I'll probably start interviewing in a month. Just went through the first phone interview last week with Amazon, had a great conversation with the hiring manager. not trying to hijack the post. What makes Amazon so bad?
I assume it's either because of the pip stories you hear about or the really high ops load most teams have
