Lost my out of state drivers license

i recently moved from California to NYC, and I found out that i lost my California drivers license. Local DMV says to get certified copy of driver record from Cal, to get a drivers license. I have requested for the same, but has already taken more than a month already, but not received a copy of my record yet. Any suggestions ?

You should have applied for the NY license before losing your CA one.

Actually i did go to DMV prior to losing my license, but the officer told me to come some other day, not sure why. Before i could go the next time i.e a week after, i lost my license.

I’m not sure about California but my state allows you to get a duplicate ID online and mailed to you without going to the DMV

Unfortunately for California, you have to visit in person.

Too many illegals stealing the license from the mailbox.

Maybe just take the drivers license exam again?

This! Try to cut any ties you have with California as soon as you can, otherwise they will come to collect the state tax from you for all the time you have connections with the state - license, real estate, doctor appointments, etc.

It seems they need ur existing record to ensure that its nor revoke or any issues with record. I guess thats fair and i will just have to wait.
