Lots of company like FB Google Netflix Snap have stack ranking and PIP quota but why only Amazon hire to fire? Just curious is it because Amazon is too big or hire to fire also happens in other companies just not on media yet.
Why did you say every company has pip quota. That's Amazon only.
MSFT used to have not now. FB have it as well
coz amazon interviews are designed for hire and fire I sometimes think its better than keeping LC monkeys, but then its corrupted by politics.
Yeah the big difference between Amazon vs. G and FB is the hiring manager is on the loop and has a large say vs G and FB having a hiring committee. So this results in HM trying to get their quota filled and bringing in more people which lowers the bar. Since more false positives get through, more people need to be fired
Jack Welch of G.E, pioneered stack ranking in 80s. Amazon mastered stack ranking. Given the size of Amazon and competitive nature of industries Amazon is in,management deemed stack ranking as the best approach in ensuring higher worker productivity and promoting a hyper competitive culture internally. Stack ranking is outdated today. It has lost its charm. Majority of Fortune 500 corporations don't have stack ranking. Companies have realized stack ranking leads to high turnover and results in an extremely toxic culture. Amazon doesn't care about employee morale, mental health and well being to stop stack ranking. With stack ranking, Amazon management gets to emotionally manipulate employees and pit one employee vs rest of the team thereby promoting a hyper competitive culture which Amazon thrives on. Amazon doesn't care about high turnover. They can hire and fire as many people as they want to. Amazon will always have a big pipeline of candidates who want Amazon on their resume due to the pure prestige value Amazon brings.
I am a little 🤮 when I saw prestige TBH
Not sure where you're getting your data from. Netflix doesn't have stack ranking.
We don't have stack ranking. You either can do the job or you are gone. No quota and you are not compared to your peers.
No stack ranking, no quotas, no PIP at Netflix.
Not true. Stack ranking and target 6% URA is Amazon only
URA is only Amazon. Stack ranking is everywhere
