I used to work at Morgan Stanley in a finance capacity. I was unhappy with the line of work, so over the pandemic, I taught myself how to code and landed a job as a front-end developer at a NY start-up. The job has been great, I love my team, and I've learned a tremendous amount (I've since been promoted to Full-Stack with glowing reviews from the CTO; although, my skillset still very much emphasizes F/E). In the last few months, we've lost several people, some I thought untouchable, to layoffs. I'm confident the reason has to do with the shaky finances of the company. I am one of two full-stack developers working on the highest-priority project in the organization, so I believe my job isn't immediately in jeopardy, but I don't want to wait to find out. I recently purchased a house and my wedding is this year, so financial security is important. I have only been with two companies in the last 8 years. Suffice it to say I don't have tremendous experience in job hunting, and I doubt my best bet is the LinkedIn job board where most job postings already have 400 applicants. I would appreciate any referrals or recommendations on how to most effectively go about the job hunt. #referral
